OUR STUDENTS

We produce chemical engineers who are well-equipped with the analytical and technical knowledge necessary in engineering the nation’s future. Our graduates walk out of the university with a common goal – spearhead the development of technology, with social and environmental responsibility, in the interest of national progress.

Kelcey

At the heart of it all, Kelcey firmly lives by the belief that you won’t be given a responsibility you’re not capable of handling, a mindset that has become her guiding principle as she navigates the degree program. For her, this phrase is more than just a comforting thought; it’s a powerful reminder that challenges are entrusted only to those capable of overcoming them. Whether she’s facing rigorous coursework, complex equations, or high-pressure lab work, Kelcey carries this conviction with resilience and quiet confidence, trusting that every responsibility she encounters is a testament to her strength and potential.

Taleon

Beyond academics, Taleon found a second home in UP KEM and the broader student community. Whether it was stressful exam nights followed by spontaneous food trips, or the camaraderie formed with thesis groupmates through long lab hours and late-night manuscript writing, these moments became the core of his college memories. The shared experiences, bonding in Tambayan, small talk between classes, or even just hearing the latest chika, grounded him and gave color to his student life.

Sir Elean

Long before stepping into this new role as a teacher, Sir Elean already found joy in helping others understand. The intimidating transition from being a student to teacher, was made easier from his experience with tutoring and mentoring fellow students as an undergrad. As he decided on what career to choose, this quiet passion of his eventually became a calling.

Sir Joghes

Despite the challenges, Sir Joghes finds joy in receiving thoughtful messages from his students. It’s in those gestures that remind him of his passion for teaching and continuing to become an inspiration that he has wished for as a child.

Kei

For Kei, leadership isn’t just about making decisions, it’s about listening to diverse perspectives and uniting people toward a shared vision. Her approach embodies the true spirit of leadership, one that values collaboration, empathy, and collective growth.

Welly

Despite acknowledging her timidity, Jewel purposefully challenged herself and pushed beyond her limits by volunteering for the said position. Jewel’s story serves as a reminder that leadership is not defined by one’s initial confidence, but by the willingness to grow, adapt, and uplift others.

Sir Choy

Sir Choy’s dedication and adaptability have made him an invaluable part of the power plant lab. His willingness to learn and his supportive presence inspire students to excel in their tasks, proving that hard work and perseverance truly lead to success.

Sir Mark

When asked, “What makes your stay here in the laboratory memorable?”
“Gusto ko yung ginagawa ko tapos marami kang natututunang bagay dito sa department at tsaka sa lab. Maraming bagay na minsan, yung inaakala mong tama, akala mo tama, na meron palang mga bagay na inaakala mong tama, tas malalaman mo na minsan mali ka din, kasi maraming matatalino dito.”

Shordii

When asked, “How was your ChE journey so far?”
“I feel like a lot of people will relate to me and feel validated that ChE is indeed difficult, kasi totoo namang mahirap siya, imagine chem, physics, math, all in one. But when you find your own group, you feel your burden lifted kasi may masasandalan ka at mapagtatanungan when you need help.”
